11561 - From Zir, who said: I said to Ubayy: “Your brother removes them from the Mushaf.” It was said to Sufyan, “Ibn Mas‘ud?” and he did not deny it. He said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and he said: “I was told, and I said.” So we say as the Messenger of Allah said. I said: This is in the Sahih except for ‘removing them from the Mushaf.’ Narrated by Ahmad and al-Tabarani, and the narrators of Ahmad are those of the Sahih.

11562 - From ‘Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid—meaning al-Nakha‘i—who said: ‘Abdullah used to remove the two protecting surahs from his copies of the Mushaf and would say: ‘They are not from the Book of Allah, Blessed and Exalted.’ Narrated by ‘Abdullah bin Ahmad and al-Tabarani, and the narrators of ‘Abdullah are those of the Sahih, and the narrators of al-Tabarani are trustworthy.

11563 - From ‘Abdullah, who used to remove the two protecting surahs from the Mushaf and would say: “The Prophet (S) was only commanded to seek refuge through them, and ‘Abdullah would not recite them.” Narrated by al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani, and their narrators are trustworthy. Al-Bazzar said: “None of the Companions followed ‘Abdullah in this, and it has been authentically reported that the Prophet (PBUH) recited them in prayer, and they were included in the Mushaf.”

11616 - From Abu Ishaq, who said: Umayyah bin ‘Abdullah bin Khalid bin Asid led us in prayer in Khurasan, and he recited from the two surahs: “Indeed, we seek Your help and ask Your forgiveness.” He then mentioned the hadith. Narrated by al-Tabarani, and its narrators are those of the Sahih.
