Verse of Baraah (Surah Tawbah 9:3)

Hadith No: 1

Narrated Abu Huraira:

On the Day of Nahr (10th of Dhul-Hijja, in the year prior to the last Hajj of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) when Abu Bakr was the leader of the pilgrims in that Hajj) Abu Bakr sent me along with other announcers to Mina to make a public announcement: "No pagan is allowed to perform Hajj after this year and no naked person is allowed to perform the Tawaf around the Ka`ba. Then Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) sent `Ali to read out the Surat Bara'a (at-Tauba) to the people; so he made the announcement along with us on the day of Nahr in Mina: "No pagan is allowed to perform Hajj after this year and no naked person is allowed to perform the Tawaf around the Ka`ba.

Humaid added: That the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) sent `Ali bin Abi Talib (after Abu Bakr) and ordered him to recite aloud in public Surat-Baraa. Hadith No: 4

It was narrated from Muharrar bin Abi Hurairah that his father said:

"I came with Ali Ibn Abi Talib when the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) sent him to the people of Makkah with Surah Baraa'ah." He said: "How did you announce? He replied: We announced that no one would enter Paradise but a believing soul, no one was to circumambulate the House naked: whoever had a treaty with the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.), then for its period, or, it extended to four months, and when four months had passed, and that Allah is free from (all) obligations to the idolaters and so is His Messenger. No idolater was to perform Hajj after this year. I kept on announcing it until my voice grew hoarse.
