The Book of Trials, may Allah protect us from them - Chapter on What Happened at al-Jamal, Siffin, and Other Events
Volume: (7) - Page Number: (234)
12031 - Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Taymi narrated that so-and-so entered the city as a pilgrim, and people came to him, greeting him. Sa'd entered, greeted him, and said: "And this did not call us to our right against the falsehood of others?" He fell silent. Then Malik said: "Do not speak." He replied: "A trial and darkness has arisen." He then said to my camel: "Ugh, ugh!" and knelt until it cleared. Then a man said: "I have read the Book of Allah from beginning to end and did not see 'ugh, ugh' in it." He replied: "Well, since you said that,
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: 'Ali is with the truth, or the truth is with Ali, wherever he may be.'" The man asked: "Who heard that?" He said: "He said it in the house of Umm Salama." So he sent for Umm Salama and asked her, and she said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said it in my house." Then the man said to Sa'd: "You have never been someone I would blame less than you are now." Sa'd replied: "And why is that?" The man said: "If I had heard this from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), I would have remained a servant to Ali until I die." This was narrated by al-Bazzar, and in it is Sa'd ibn Shu'ayb, whom I do not know, but the rest of its men are reliable.
