12 - Al-Husayn ibn Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Abu Kuraib narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Yusuf narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Ishaq
from Jari ibn Samurah, who said: When there was what there was between the people of Basra and Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), I went until I reached Medina and went to Maymunah bint al-Harith, who was from the Banu Hilal. I greeted her, and she said: "From which man are you?" I said: "From the people of Iraq." She said: "From which people of Iraq?" I replied: "From the people of Kufa." She asked: "From which people of Kufa?" I said: "From the Banu Amir." She said: "Welcome, close upon close, and spacious upon spacious!" Then regarding what brought you here, I said: There was something between Ali, Talhah, and Zubair, and what had happened, so I came and gave my allegiance to Ali." She said: "Join him, for by Allah, he has not gone astray, nor will he lead you astray," until she said it three times.
