Al-Hakim al-Nisapuri - Al-Mustadrak Ala al-Sahihayn
Book of the Division of Ghanimah
The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to Ali: "You will explain to my Ummah what they differ over after me."
Volume: (3) - Page Number: (123)
4679 - Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali al-Shaybani informed us in Kufa from the original of his book, saying: Ahmad ibn Hazm ibn Abi Gharzah narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Abdul Salam ibn Harb narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us from Ismail ibn Rija' from his father from Abu Sa'id (peace be upon him), Ibn Abi Gharzah said, and Ubaydullah ibn Musa narrated to us: Fitr ibn Khalifah narrated to us from Ismail ibn Rija' from his father from Abu Sa'id (peace be upon him), who said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) when his sandal lace broke, and Ali stayed behind to mend it. He walked a little, then said: 'Indeed, one of you will fight for the interpretation of the Qur'an just as I fought for its revelation.' The people, including Abu Bakr and Umar (peace be upon them), looked eager for this. Abu Bakr said: 'I am he.' He replied: 'No.' Umar said: 'I am he.' He replied: 'No, but the one mending the sandal lace,' referring to Ali. So we went to him and gave him the good news, but he did not raise his head as if he had heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." This is a sound hadith, meeting the criteria of the two Shaykhs, although they did not narrate it.

Al-Hakim al-Nisaburi - Al-Mustadrak ala al-Sahihain
Book of the Knowledge of the Companions (ra) - Ali with the Quran and the Quran with Ali
Volume: (3) - Page Number: (124)
4685 - Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafid told us, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Nasr narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Talha al-Qannad, the trustworthy and reliable, narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn Hashim ibn al-Barid narrated to me, from his father, who said: Abu Sa'id al-Taymi narrated to me from Abu Thabit, the freedman of Ubayd, who said: I was with Ali (ra) on the day of the Camel. When I saw Aisha standing, I was filled with some of what fills people. But Allah lifted that from me during the noon prayer, and I fought with the Commander of the Faithful. When we were done, I went to Medina and visited Umm Salamah. I said to her: By Allah, I did not come to ask for food or drink, but I am a freedman of Ubayd. She said: Welcome! Then I related my story to her, and she said: Where were you when hearts were in turmoil? I replied: To where Allah lifted that from me at the decline of the sun. She said: You have done well. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: Ali is with the Quran and the Quran is with Ali; they will not be separated until they return to me at the pond. This is a hadith with a sound chain of narration, and Abu Sa'id al-Taymi was a reliable and trustworthy person, but neither of the two (al-Bukhari or Muslim) narrated it.
