14763 - Abu Sa'id reported that he said: We were sitting, waiting for the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), when he came out to us from one of his wives' houses. So we stood up with him, and his sandal broke, and Ali stayed behind to mend it while the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) went on, and we continued with him. Then he stood, waiting for him, and we stood with him and he said: "Indeed, among you is one who will fight based on the interpretation of this Quran, just as I fought based on its revelation." We leaned forward, and among us were Abu Bakr and Umar. He said: "No, it is not them, but the one mending the sandal." Then we came to give him the good news, and it was as if he had heard it. Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the men of authenticity, except for Fitr ibn Khalifah, and he is trustworthy.
