- .... Ibn Dihzayl narrated in this book, saying: Yahya ibn Sulayman narrated to me, Yahya ibn Abdul Malik ibn Hamid ibn Utayba narrated to me from his father, from Isma'il ibn Raja' from his father, and Muhammad ibn Fadail from al-A'mash from Isma'il ibn Raja'
from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah have mercy on him, who said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) when the lacing of his sandal broke, and he threw it to Ali (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) to repair. Then he said, 'There is among you one who will fight on the interpretation of the Quran just as I fought on its revelation.'" Abu Bakr al-Siddiq said, "I am he, O Messenger of Allah!" He replied, "No." Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "I am he, O Messenger of Allah!" He said, "No, but that one over there is the one repairing the sandal," and Ali's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) hand was on the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sandal,
fixing it. Abu Sa'id said: "So I went to Ali (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and gave him this news, but he did not care for it, as if it were something he already knew."
