- Abu al-Wafa' Umar ibn al-Fadl ibn Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim narrated to me, saying: Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn Khurshid narrated to us, his statement: Umar ibn al-Hasan ibn Ali al-Shaybani narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Harun ibn Isa al-Basri narrated to us, Amr ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Yahya ibn al-Alaa narrated to me, al-Hasan ibn Atiyya, meaning al-Awfi, narrated from his father
from Imran ibn Husayn, who said: Ali fell ill during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) visited him, and we also visited him. He said: O Messenger of Allah, I do not see Ali except in a worse condition. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied: By the One in whose hand is my soul, he will not die until he is filled with rage, and there will be one after me who is patient.

from Anas ibn Malik, who said: Ali ibn Abi Talib fell ill, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) entered upon him. I moved from my place, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sat where I had been sitting and mentioned some words, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: This one will not die until he is filled with rage, and he will not die except being murdered.
