Volume: (7) - Page Number: (267)
7466 - Muhammad bin Shu'aib narrated to us, saying: Hafs bin Umar al-Mahruqani narrated to us, saying: al-Najm bin Bashir narrated to us, from Isma'il bin Sulayman, the brother of Ishaq bin Sulayman, from Abd al-Malik bin Abi Sulayman, from Ata'
from Anas bin Malik, who said: "I was with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in a garden when a bird was brought to him. He said, 'O Allah, bring me the one You love most among Your creation to eat with me from this bird.'" Then Ali came and knocked on the door. I said, "Who is this?" He replied, "I am Ali." I said, "The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is busy." So he went away, then returned and knocked on the door again. I said, "Who is it now?" He replied, "I am Ali." I said, "The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is busy." He came again and knocked on the door, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Go and open the door." He said to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), "What kept you, may Allah have mercy on you?" He replied, "These are three supplications." Each time, all of this, he says to me, Anas, "You are busy." Anas said: "O Anas, what made you do that?" I said, "I heard your prayer and wanted it to be a man from my people." Only Isma'il bin Sulayman narrated that Abd al-Malik bin Abi Sulayman spoke this hadith from Ata' from Anas, and none narrated it from Isma'il except al-Najm bin Bashir. It was uniquely reported by Hafs bin Umar al-Mahruqani.
