- .... He said: It has been narrated through various channels from Anas, and my father Ya'la narrated it from al-Husayn ibn Hammad, from Shahr ibn Abd al-Malik, from Isa ibn Umar, with the same wording. And my father Ya'la said: Qatn ibn Bashir narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Sulayman al-Dab'i narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Mithna narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Anas narrated to us from Anas ibn Malik, who said: A cooked partridge was presented to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) with bread and hospitality. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "O Allah, bring me the dearest of Your creatures to You, who will eat with me from this food." Then Aisha said: "O Allah, make it my father." And Hafsa said: "O Allah, make it my father." Anas said: And I said, "O Allah, make it Sa'd ibn Ubadah." Anas continued: Then I heard a movement at the door, and I said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is occupied with something," so he turned away. Then I heard another movement at the door, and I went out to see Ali at the door. I said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is occupied with something," so he turned away. Then I heard another movement at the door, and Ali greeted me. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) heard his voice and said: "See who this is." So I went out and it was Ali. I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and informed him. He said: "Let him in to me." So I allowed him to enter, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "O Allah, be an ally of whoever allies with him."

- .... And it was narrated from Ali himself, who said: Ibad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, saying: Isa ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Ali narrated to me, from my father, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ali, who said: A bird was gifted to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called al-Habbarah, and it was placed before him while Anas ibn Malik was shielding him. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) raised his hand to Allah and said: "O Allah, bring me your most beloved creation to eat this bird with me." He said, then Ali came and sought permission to enter. Anas said to him: The Messenger of Allah is, I mean, attending to his need. So he returned. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) repeated the supplication, and Ali returned. He prayed a third time, and Ali came and was admitted. When the Messenger of Allah saw him, he said: "O Allah, and his ally," and he ate with him. When the Messenger of Allah had eaten and Ali had left, Anas said: I heard Ali, and I said: "O Abu al-Hasan, ask forgiveness for me, for I have a sin against you, and I have good news for you." I informed him of what had happened with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He praised Allah, asked forgiveness for me, and was pleased with me. My good news to him removed my sin in his eyes.
