3936 - Abu Ya'la said: Ubaydullah ibn Umar narrated to us, saying: Yunus ibn Arqam narrated to us, from Mutayr ibn Abi Khalid, from Thabit al-Bajjali, from Safinah, the companion of the Provision of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), who said: A woman from the Ansar presented two birds between two loaves of bread to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while he was in the mosque, and there was no one in the house except me and Anas ibn Malik. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) came and called for lunch.
I said, "O Messenger of Allah, a woman has gifted you a present." She then presented the two birds to him. He said, "O Allah, bring me Your most beloved Creation." I think he said, "to You and Your Messenger." Then Ali came and knocked lightly on the door. I said, "Who is this?" He replied, "Abu al-Hasan." Then he knocked again and raised his voice, saying. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Who is this?" I replied, "Ali." He said, "Open for him." So I opened, and he ate with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) from the two birds until they were finished.
