1499 - Abu Ahmad Harun ibn Yusuf narrated to us, who said: Ibn Abi Umar al-Adni narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Ibn Abi al-Rijal, who informed me from his father, from his grandfather, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: I was with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in his house when a bird was presented to him as a gift. He said: "O Allah, bring me a man whom You love to eat with me from this bird." I said: "O Allah, make him a man from the Ansar." Then there was a knock at the door, and I came and said: "Who is this?" He replied: "I am Ali."
I said: "The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) has only just entered now." Then I returned to my place. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) repeated the invitation and said: "O Allah, bring me a man whom You love to eat with me from this bird." There was a knock at the door, and I came and said: "Who is this?" He replied: "I am Ali." I said: "Just a moment," and then returned to my place. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) repeated the invitation, and there was a knock at the door. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Open, O Anas." So I opened it, and it was Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he ate, both he and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) ate from it. Muhammad ibn Ja'far said: I heard from trustworthy people that he said: "O Allah, and love him."
