Anas said: Then Ali (a) came, and he was prevented. Then he came a second time and was prevented, and he came a third time and was prevented, hoping that the invocation would be for a man from my people. Then he came the fourth time, and I allowed him to enter. When the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) saw him, he said: O Allah, and I love him too. So he ate with him from that bird.

He said: "Allahumma admit whoever You love to eat with me from this bird." Then a man came and sought permission while I was at the door, and I said: "He is busy with something." So he returned. Then he came again the second time and sought permission, and I said: "He is busy with something." So he returned. Then he came the third time and sought permission. He heard his voice and said: "Grant him permission," and he was seated between them, and he ate.
