8441 - Abdah ibn Abd al-Rahim narrated to me, saying: Amr ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq narrated to us, from al-Ayazar ibn Harith, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said: Abu Bakr sought permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he heard Aisha's voice raised loudly as she said: "By Allah, I know that Ali is more beloved to you than my father." So Abu Bakr reached out to her to slap her. He said: "O daughter of so-and-so, I see you raising your voice over the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)!" But the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) held him back, and Abu Bakr left, angry. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "O Aisha, how did you see me rescuing you from the man?" Then Abu Bakr sought permission to enter again after that, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and Aisha had reconciled. He said: "Admit me into peace just as you admitted me into war." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "We have done so."
