Chapter on Clarifying the Ambiguity of What Was Narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) Regarding Whom He Loved Most Among People
Volume: (13) - Page Number: (332)
5308 - And what has been narrated to us by al-Ḥasan ibn Abdullah ibn Manṣūr al-Bālsī, who said: Al-Haytham ibn Jamīl narrated to us, who said: Ḥishām narrated to us, from al-ʿAwām ibn Ḥushayb from Junjayb ibn ʿUmayr, who said: I entered with my mother upon ʿAisha, and my mother said to her: Who was the most beloved of women to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)? She said: Fatima. My mother asked: And among men? She replied: Her husband. Then what she said in this narration seems to contradict what she said in the narration you mentioned before it in this chapter. Our response to this, by the providence and help of Allah, the Exalted, is that there is no contradiction as presumed. Rather, ʿAisha was asked in her first narration about the most beloved people to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and she understood that no one among his family could be surpassed in his love, just as no one besides them could precede them in conveying messages from him, such as in the case of Surah Bara'ah during the pilgrimage, and in his statement: "None will convey from me except a man from my family." She responded with the answer mentioned in relation to the most beloved people to him, aside from his family. She was then asked in her second narration about Ali, who was from his family, and she answered with the response she had given before, and this clarifies the meaning of what we understood from the Hadith of Usamah and the Hadith of ʿAmr, as we mentioned regarding the meaning of each one of them in this chapter. It also clarifies what we stated in our narration from ʿAisha about the rest of the People of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and others among people regarding his love.

Chapter on Clarifying the Difficulties of What Was Narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) Regarding Who the Most Beloved People to Him Were
Volume: (13) - Page Number: (333)
5309 - What has been narrated to us: Abū Umayya said: Abū Naʿīm narrated to us, quoting Yūnus ibn Abī Isḥāq, who said: al-ʿIyzār ibn Ḥurayth narrated to us, saying: Al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr said: Abū Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) requested permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he heard the voice of ʿĀ'isha saying: "By Allah, I knew that ʿAlī was more beloved to you than my father, twice or three times." So, Abū Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission again and entered, and he reached out towards her, saying: "O daughter of so-and-so, should I not hear you raising your voice over the Messenger of Allah?" (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) This narration indicates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was aware of what ʿĀ'isha said and did not deny it. All meanings of everything we have narrated in this chapter will emerge in a way that does not contradict, and what we mentioned about the preference of ʿAlī (peace be upon him) in the love of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) over Abū Bakr in this matter does not prevent the possibility that Abū Bakr held a position of favor ahead of him with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). Rather, each of them had his own place with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in terms of love and virtue (may Allah be pleased with them), as did the other companions besides them. We ask Allah for success.
