Volume: (3) - Page Number: (88)
2749 - Muhammad ibn Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Ishaq al-Sini narrated to us, saying: Qais ibn al-Rubay' narrated to us from Luith from Abu Layla
from al-Hasan ibn Ali (RA), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "O Anas, go and call me the Master of the Arabs," meaning Ali. Aisha (RA) then said, "Aren't you the Master of the Arabs?" He replied, "I am the Master of the Children of Adam, and Ali is the Master of the Arabs." When Ali (peace be upon him) came, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent for the Ansar, and they came to him. He said to them: "O group of Ansar, shall I not direct you to something that if you hold firmly to it, you will not go astray afterward?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "This is Ali, so love him for my sake and honor him for my honor, for Gabriel (peace be upon him) commanded me regarding what I told you from Allah, the Almighty."
