Al-Tabarani - al-Mu'jam al-Kabir - Musnad al-Nisa' - Chapter on the Alif - Abu Yazid al-Madini from Asma'
Volume: (24) - Page Number: (137)
365 - Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Dabari narrated to us, from Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Ayyub, from Ikrimah and Abu Yazid al-Madini - or one of them, Abd al-Razzaq was unsure - that Asma' bint Umays said: When Fatimah was given in marriage to Ali ibn Abi Talib, we did not find in his house anything except for a stretched-out bed of sand, a pillow stuffed with something, a jar, and a cup. So the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent to Ali, saying, "Do not tell any story," or he said, "Do not go near your family until I come to you." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) came and asked, "Is my brother there?" Um Ayman answered - she was the mother of Usamah ibn Zayd, was Abyssinian, and a righteous woman: "O Messenger of Allah, this is your brother, and his wife is your daughter." And the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had formed brotherhood between his companions and had made Ali his own brother. He said, "That will happen, O Um Ayman." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called for a container of water and prayed in it as long as Allah willed him to pray, then he wiped it over Ali's chest and face. Then he called for Fatimah, and she stood up to him, stumbling in her cloak out of shyness. He sprinkled her with some of that and said to her what Allah willed him to say, then he told her, "I did not fail you in marrying you to the one I love most from my family." Then he saw a shadow from behind the curtain - or from behind the door - and said, "Who is this?" She said, "Asma." He said, "Asma' bint Umays." She replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "You came as a tribute to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) with his daughter." She said, "Yes, for a girl, on the night she is married, must have a woman nearby in case she has a need, so she can convey it to her." Then he prayed for me with a prayer, for it is the most trusted of my actions in my sight. Then he said to Ali, "Here is your family," and he left, turning away. She said, "He kept praying for them until he disappeared from their sight."
