- Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ruzq narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr Makram ibn Ahmad ibn Makram al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Al-Qasim ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Anbari narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Salt al-Harawi narrated to us, saying: Abu Mu'awiya narrated to us from al-A'mash from Mujahid
from Ibn Abbas who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate. Whoever desires knowledge should come to its gate." Al-Qasim said: I asked Yahya ibn Ma'in about this hadith, and he said: It is authentic. I said: He meant that it is authentic as a narration from Abu Mu'awiya and is not false, as it has been narrated by others from him.
- Muhammad ibn Ali al-Muqri narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Naysaburi narrated to us, saying: I heard Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Asamm say: I heard al-Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Duri say: I heard Yahya ibn Ma'in authenticate Abu al-Salt Abd al-Salam ibn Salih. I said, or it was said to him: He narrated
from Abu Mu'awiya from al-A'mash: "I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate." He replied: What do you want from this poor man? Hasn't Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Fidi narrated this or something like it from Abu Mu'awiya?
- I read to al-Barqani from Muhammad ibn al-Abbas, who said: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Mus'adah narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Daristuweh narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Qasim ibn Muharz narrated to us, saying: I asked Yahya ibn Ma'in about Abu al-Salt Abd al-Salam ibn Salih al-Harawi, and he said: He is not someone who tells lies. It was said to him regarding the narration from Abu Mu'awiya from al-A'mash from Mujahid
from Ibn Abbas: "I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate." He said: It is a narration from Abu Mu'awiya.
