36 - Ibn al-Maghazili: With his chain of narrators from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas, and also from Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them), who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) took Ali by the arm and said: "This is the Commander of the Righteous and the Slayer of the Unbelievers. He will be supported by those who support him and forsaken by those who forsake him." Then he raised his voice
and said: "I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate. Whoever wishes to seek knowledge should come to the gate." Also, Muwaffaq ibn Ahmad and al-Hamuwini and al-Daylami in al-Firdaws and the author of the book al-Manaqib narrated this hadith from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas.
37 - Also, Ibn al-Maghazili: Narrated from Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman
from Ali (peace be upon him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate, and houses are not accessed except through their doors."38 - Ibn al-Maghazili: With his chain of narrators from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, who said: Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha informed us, from his father, from his forefathers
from the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "O Ali, I am the city of knowledge, and its gate. Whoever claims to reach the city except from the gate is lying."39 - From al-Asbagh ibn Nabatah, who said: When Ali (peace be upon him) sat in the caliphate, he delivered a sermon which Abu Sa'id al-Buhturi mentioned, and when he finished, he said to al-Hasan (peace be upon him): "O son, ascend the pulpit and speak." Al-Hasan ascended, and after praising and sending blessings,
he said: "O people, I heard my grandfather (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, 'I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate.'"42 - Ibn al-Maghazili: With his chain of narrators from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, who said: Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha informed us, from his father, from his forefathers
from the Imam of the Righteous, Ali (peace be upon him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "O Ali, I am the city of knowledge, and you are its gate. It is a lie for anyone to claim that they can enter the city without the door." Allah, the Exalted, said: {And enter houses through their doors} (Surah al-Baqarah 2:189).
