2704 - I am the House of Wisdom, and in another narration: I am the City of Wisdom, and Ali is its Gate, meaning Ali ibn Abi Talib is the gate through which one enters into wisdom. So this rank is indeed magnificent, and this virtue is truly exalted. And whoever claims that what is meant by the phrase "and Ali is its Gate" is that he is elevated from above, and this represents height, has their argument dissolved for a corrupt purpose with something that will neither be sufficient nor beneficial to them.

62 - Chapter: 3723: His statement: Muhammad ibn Umar ibn al-Rumi narrated to us: .... Similarly, it was mentioned in Tirmidhi's work on the virtues of Zayd ibn Harithah, from al-Sunabihi, who is Abd al-Rahman ibn Asilah. His statement: "I am the House of Wisdom, and Ali," meaning Ali ibn Abi Talib, is its door, i.e., the one who enters through him can access it, may indicate that the Shi'a might use this analogy to argue that acquiring knowledge and wisdom from him is exclusive to him and cannot be extended to others except through him (peace be upon him) because one can only enter a house through its door. And Allah, the Exalted, has said: {And enter houses by their doors} (Surah al-Baqarah 2:189).

- Dar al-Hikmah: The Sheikh (ra) narrated from the Hadith of Ali that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "I am the House of Wisdom, and Ali is its Gate." Al-Hakim narrated it in al-Mustadrak and deemed it authentic, and Ibn al-Jawzi claimed it was fabricated. However, the Sheikh (ra) refuted him in al-Nukat and in al-La'ali. The two hadith scholars, al-‘Ala’i and Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, stated: "The correct position is that it is good, neither authentic nor fabricated." I have elaborated on this topic in my book al-Fawa'id al-Majmu'ah, clarifying the fabricated hadiths.
