Volume: (5) - Page Number: (26)
19796 - Abu Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Khalid, meaning ibn Tumhan, narrated to us, from Naf'i ibn Abi Naf'i, from Ma'qil ibn Yasar, who said: I performed ablution for the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) one day, and he said: "Do you want to visit Fatimah (peace be upon her and her holy progeny) and check on her?" I replied: "Yes," and he stood up leaning on me and said: "Indeed, someone else will carry her burden, and her reward will be for you." It was as if there was nothing on him until we entered upon Fatimah (peace be upon her and her holy progeny), and he said to her: "How do you find yourself?" She replied: "By Allah, my grief has indeed intensified, my poverty has become more severe, and my illness has prolonged." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I found in my father's handwriting in his book regarding this hadith, "Will you not be pleased that I have married you to the most senior of my ummah in submission (Islam) and the one who has the most knowledge, and the greatest forbearance?"

14595 - From Maqal ibn Yasar, who said: One day I performed ablution for the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he said: "Do you want to visit Fatimah and check on her?" I replied, "Yes," and he stood up, leaning on me. Then he said: "Surely, someone else will carry her burden, and the reward for it will be yours." It was as if Ali (ra) had nothing until we entered upon Fatimah (peace be upon her), and he said: "How are you finding yourself?" She replied: "By Allah, my sorrow has grown severe, my poverty has become urgent, and my illness has lingered." Abdullah said: I found in my father's handwriting in this narration: "Would you not be pleased that I arrange your marriage to the one who is the foremost in my Ummah in submitting to Allah and the most knowledgeable among them, and the greatest in forbearance?" Ahmad and al-Tabarani narrated it, and in it is Khalid ibn Tumhan, whom Abu Hatim and others deemed trustworthy, and the remainder of its narrators are reliable.

111 - Al-Mu'waffaq narrated to me: Muhtathib al-A'immah Abu al-Mu'zaffar Abd al-Malik ibn Ali ibn Muhammad al-Hamdhani - a resident of Baghdad - narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Maymun al-Narsi narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to us: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn al-Nahhas narrated to us: Abdullah ibn Zaidan narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us: Mufaddal narrated to us: Jabir narrated to us from Sulayman ibn Buraydah from his father who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Stand up with us, O Abu Buraydah, and let us visit Fatimah." So when we entered upon her, she saw her father, and tears filled her eyes. He said, "What is making you cry, my daughter?" She said, "The lack of sustenance, the abundance of worries, and the severity of illness." He said to her, "By God, what is with Allah is better than what you long for, O Fatimah. Do you not rejoice that your husband is the best of my ummah, the foremost in submitting, the most knowledgeable, and the most excellent in forbearance? And by God, your two sons are the leaders of the youth of Paradise."
122 - And Shahmardar narrated to me this as an ijazah, saying: Abdus narrated to us this in writing, saying: Abu Talib narrated to us: Ibn Marduyah narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Asim narrated to us: 'Imran ibn Abd al-Rahim narrated to us: Abu al-Salt al-Harawi narrated to us: Husayn ibn Hasan al-Ashqar narrated to us: Qays narrated to us from al-A'mash from 'Abayah ibn Rub'iy from Abu Ayub that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) fell ill and Fatimah came to visit him. When she saw the exhaustion and weakness upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), she became tearful and wept until tears flowed down her cheeks. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to her, "O Fatimah, it is for the honor of Allah, the Almighty, towards you that your husband is one of the foremost in submitting and the most knowledgeable." And the greatest in forbearance. Indeed, Allah, the Exalted, looked at the people of the earth and chose me from them, and sent me as a prophet and messenger. Then He looked again and chose your father from them, and revealed to me to marry you to him and to take him as my successor."
- And he said: "How are you, my daughter, and how do you find your husband?" She replied: "O Father, the best of husbands, except that the women of Quraysh came to me and said, 'Your husband, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), is from a poor man with no wealth.'" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to her, "Your father is neither poor nor is your husband poor. I was offered the treasures of the earth, gold and silver, but I chose what is with my Lord, the Almighty, if you only knew what your father knows, you would see the world as insignificant." And by God, O daughter, I did not withhold any advice from you, that I married you to one who is the foremost in submitting and the most knowledgeable, and the greatest in forbearance....

- .... Abdullah ibn Musa, al-Fadl ibn Dukayn, and al-Hasan ibn Atayyah narrated, saying: Khalid ibn Tahman narrated to us from Nafih ibn Abi Nafih from Ma'qil ibn Yasar, who said: I was advising the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he said to me, "Do you wish us to visit Fatimah?" I replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He stood up, walking and leaning on me, and said: "Indeed, someone else will carry her burden, and her reward will be for you." Then, by Allah, it seemed as if there was nothing on the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) shoulders. We entered upon Fatimah (peace be upon her), and he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to her: "How do you find yourself?" She replied, "My sorrow has lasted long, and my grief has intensified. The women are telling me, 'Your husband, your father, is poor and has no wealth.'" He said to her, "Do you not rejoice that I have married you to the one who is the foremost of my Ummah in submission and the most knowledgeable among them?" She said, "Yes, I am pleased, O Messenger of Allah."
- .... Abd al-Salam ibn Salih narrated from Ishaq al-Azraq, from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his ancestors, that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) married Fatimah, women entered upon her and said, "O daughter of the Messenger of Allah, so-and-so and so-and-so have proposed to you. He has rejected them and married you to a poor man with no wealth." When her father (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) entered upon her, he saw this in her face and asked her. She mentioned this to him. He said, "O Fatimah, Allah commanded me, so I married you to the one who is the foremost among them in submission and the most knowledgeable." He added, "And I did not marry you except by a command from heaven. Did you not know that he is my brother in this world and the Hereafter...."
- .... It is established that his Islam was the Islam of one who is discerning, aware of what has entered upon him, and had he not been thus, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would not have praised him in that way nor would he have pleased his daughter Fatimah when she found his marriage with his words to her, 'I have married you to the one who is the foremost in submission,' nor would he have added to his statement, 'the most knowledgeable among them,' and "the most forbearing." Forbearance is reason, and these two matters are the culmination of virtue. If his Islam was the Islam of one who is knowledgeable, aware, and discerning, he would not have linked his Islam to the knowledge and forbearance with which he described him. How could it be permissible for him to praise him for something that was not a matter for which he would be rewarded if he did it, nor punished if he left it....

14 - And in al-Manaqib from Muqatil ibn Sulayman, from Ja'far al-Sadiq, from his forefathers, from Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "O Ali, you are to me like Seth to Adam, like Shem to Noah, and like Isaac to Abraham, as Allah, the Exalted, said: {And Abraham instructed his sons, and so did Jacob,} (Surah al-Baqarah 2:132). You are also like Aaron to Moses, like Simon to Jesus, and you are my vicegerent and my heir. You are the foremost among them in submission and the most knowledgeable among them; the most abundant in forbearance, the bravest in heart, and the most generous in wealth. You are the Imam of my Ummah and the divider of Paradise and Hell. Through your love, the righteous will be distinguished from the wicked, and you will differentiate between the believers, the hypocrites, and the disbelievers."
388 - Report twenty-three: Fatimah said: "O my father, you have married me to a poor man who has no wealth." He (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "O Fatimah, I married you to one who is the foremost among them in submission, the greatest in forbearance, and the most knowledgeable." Do you not know that Allah looked at the earth and chose your father, then looked again and chose your husband?" Ahmad narrated this in al-Musnad.
33 - From Abu Ayoub al-Ansari, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) fell ill, and Fatimah (peace be upon her) came to him, weeping. He said: "O Fatimah, indeed, for the honor of Allah towards you, He has married you to one who is the foremost among them in submission and the most knowledgeable." Allah, the Exalted, looked at the people of the earth and chose me from them, making me a Prophet and Messenger. Then He looked again and chose your husband from them, and He revealed to me to marry you to him and take him as a vicegerent....
26 - In the book Fada'il al-Sahabah by Abu al-Mu'tazzar al-Samarqandi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: Fatimah entered upon her father (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in his illness, weeping, and said: "O my father, I fear for my loss after you." He said: "O Fatimah, indeed, Allah looked at the people of the earth and chose your father and sent him as a Messenger. Then He looked again and chose your husband from them, and He commanded me to marry you to him." So I married you to him, and he is the greatest of the Muslims in forbearance and the most knowledgeable among them, and the foremost in Islam....
