1721 - Waki' narrated to us, from Sharik, from Abu Ishaq, from Hubayra: Al-Hasan ibn Ali (peace be upon him) delivered a sermon to us and said: "Indeed, a man has departed from you yesterday, who was not preceded by the earlier ones in knowledge, nor will the later ones be able to reach him." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would send him forth with the banner, Gabriel on his right, and Michael on his left, and he would not return until victory was granted to him.

1722 - Waki' narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amr ibn Hubshi, who said: Al-Hasan ibn Ali addressed us after the killing of Ali, and he said: "A man has departed from you yesterday who was not preceded by those before him in knowledge, nor will those after him be able to attain his level." If the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was truly to send him and give him the banner, he would not return until victory was granted to him, and he left nothing of gold or silver except for seven hundred dirhams from his allotment that he had been saving for a servant for his family. Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Burayd ibn Abi Maryam, from Abu al-Hawrа', from Hasan ibn Ali, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) taught him to say in the Witr prayer, and he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Yunus.

This is a hadith that is authentic on the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and they did not include it in their collections.

4690 - Abu al-Nadr Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Faqih narrated to us, saying: Uthman ibn Sa'id al-Darani narrated to us, saying: al-Nufaili narrated to us, saying: Zuhair narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said: Uthman also narrated to us, and Ali ibn Hakim al-Awdi and Amr ibn Aun al-Wasiti both said: Sharik ibn Abdullah narrated to us from Abu Ishaq, who said: I asked Quthum ibn al-Abbas: "How did Ali inherit from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) above you?" He replied: "Because he was the first of us to join him and the most resolute among us in faith." This is a narration with a reliable chain of transmission, and they did not include it in their collections.
I heard the Qadi al-Qudat, Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Salih al-Hashimi, say: I heard Abu Umar al-Qadi say: I heard Isma'il ibn Ishaq al-Qadi say, and he mentioned Quthum's statement: "Surely an inheritor inherits only by blood or by allegiance, and there is no disagreement among the scholars that a cousin does not inherit in the presence of an uncle." Thus, this consensus shows that Ali inherited knowledge from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) above them, and affirms the correctness of what the qadi mentioned.
