981 - Abdullah narrated to us, who said: My father narrated to us, from Ya'qub, from my father, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Aban ibn Salih, from al-Fadl ibn Ma'qal ibn Sinan, from Abdullah ibn Niyyar al-Aslami, from Amr ibn Shas al-Aslami, who was one of the companions of Hudaybiyyah. He said: I went out with Ali to Yemen, and he was unkind to me during that journey, to the point that I felt resentment towards him. When I returned, I feigned a complaint in the mosque, and this reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). One morning, I entered the mosque while the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was in it with some of his companions. When he saw me, he narrowed his eyes at me, saying with his gaze, "Look intently at me," until I sat down.
Then he said: "O Amr, by Allah, you have indeed hurt me." I replied: "I seek refuge in Allah from hurting you, O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Indeed, whoever harbors resentment against Ali has hurt me."
