8266 - "Whoever harms Ali ibn Abi Talib has harmed me." He said this three times, and theCompanions used to acknowledge this for him. Al-Darqutni narrated from Umar: that he heard a man speaking ill of Ali, and he said: "Woe to you! Do you know Ali? This is his cousin," and he pointed to the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). "By Allah, you have not harmed anyone except this one in his grave."
- Imam Ahmad narrated in the extra materials of al-Musnad with wording: "If you belittle him, you have harmed this one in his grave" (Ham, Tak, Kh) in the virtues of the Companions from Amr ibn Shas al-Aslami, and it is said al-Asadi, a poet, a brave warrior who witnessed Hudaybiyyah, and he is the one who said:
"When we set out at night and you are our leader, * a hand is enough for our mounts, guiding them with your face."
He said: "I went out with Ali to Yemen, and he was aloof with me, so I felt it in my heart. I went ahead and began to express my complaint in the mosque, and it reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He said: 'O Amr, by Allah, you have harmed me.' I said: 'I seek refuge with Allah from harming you.' He replied: 'Whoever harms Ali...'" and so on. Al-Hakim said: "Sahih" and al-Dhahabi agreed with him. Al-Haythami said: "Its narrators are the narrators of Sahih."
