- Abu al-Qasim ibn al-Samarqandi and Abu al-Barakat Yahya ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Habish both said: Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Nuqur narrated to us, saying: Isa ibn Ali narrated to us, saying: Abd ibn al-Baghawi narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Salih al-Azdi narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Hashim al-Janbii narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Aban ibn Salih ibn Umair, from al-Fadl ibn Muqil, from Abdullah ibn Niyyar from Amr ibn Shasas, who heard the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "Whoever harms Ali has harmed me."
- A more complete narration was given to us by Abu al-Fath ibn Abd al-Wahid, who said: Abu Mansur Shuaj ibn Ali narrated to us, and Abu Abd Allah al-Abdi narrated to us, and Ahmad ibn Ziyad narrated to us. Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Juri narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us from his father, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq. He told me that Aban ibn Salih narrated to me that al-Fadl ibn Muqil narrated to him from Abdullah ibn Niyyar al-Aslami, from Amr ibn Shasas al-Aslami, who was one of the companions of Hudaybiyya, and said: I went out with Ali ibn Abi Talib to Yemen, and he was distant with me during that journey. So I came to Medina and complained about him in the mosque. When that reached the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), I entered the mosque one morning, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was sitting with his companions, extending his eyes towards me, as if to narrow his gaze then said: "By Allah, you have indeed harmed me." I said: "I seek refuge in Allah from harming you." He replied: "Indeed, whoever harms Ali harms me."
