176 - And with this chain, Ahmad ibn al-Husayn informed us, saying: Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdān informed us, saying: Ahmad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Halwani narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Ayyub narrated to us, saying: Marwan ibn Muawiya narrated to us, saying: Qinan ibn Abdullah al-Manhamhi narrated to us, from Musab ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, from his father, who said: I was sitting in the mosque with two men when we spoke ill of Ali when suddenly the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) approached, angry, his face showing his anger. I sought refuge with Allah from his anger, and he said: What is it to you that you harm Ali? Whoever harms Ali has harmed me. He continued: After that, I would be approached, and it would be said to me: Ali is speaking about you and saying: Beware of the trial of the two brothers. I would reply, Did he mention my name? It would be said: No. I would say: There are many who are brother-like. Far from Allah be it that I harm the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) after what I heard from him.

181 - And with this chain of narration, Ahmad ibn al-Husayn, this one, informed us: Abu Abdullah informed us: Ahmad ibn Ja'far al-Bazzaz narrated to us: Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to me from my father, who said: Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us from my father, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Aban ibn Salih, from al-Fadl ibn Muqil ibn Yasar, from Abdullah ibn Tiyar al-Aslami, from Amr ibn Shas al-Aslami - who was one of the companions of Hudaybiyyah - who said: We set out with Ali to Yemen, and he was distant with me during that journey until I felt hurt in myself. When I returned, I began to express my grievance about him in the mosque until this reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He said: I entered the mosque one morning, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was in the company of some of his companions. When he saw me, he narrowed his eyes at me and appeared to say, "Limit your gaze," until I sat down. Then he said, "O Amr, by Allah, you have indeed hurt me." I replied, "I seek refuge in Allah from hurting you, O Messenger of Allah!" He said, "Indeed, yes. Whoever hurts Ali has hurt me."
