176 - And with this chain, Ahmad ibn al-Husayn informed us, saying: Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdān informed us, saying: Ahmad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Halwani narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Ayyub narrated to us, saying: Marwan ibn Muawiya narrated to us, saying: Qinan ibn Abdullah al-Manhamhi narrated to us, from Musab ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, from his father, who said: I was sitting in the mosque with two men when we spoke ill of Ali
when suddenly the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)
approached, angry, his face showing his anger. I sought refuge with Allah from his anger, and he said: What is it to you that you harm Ali? Whoever harms Ali has harmed me. He continued: After that, I would be approached, and it would be said to me: Ali is speaking about you and saying: Beware of the trial of the two brothers. I would reply, Did he mention my name? It would be said: No. I would say: There are many who are brother-like. Far from Allah be it that I harm the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) after what I heard from him.
