He said: I was with Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in the cavalry that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent him with to Yemen, and Ali treated me with a slight coldness, so I felt some annoyance towards him. When I arrived in Medina, I complained about him in the gatherings of the city and to those I met. One day, I was approaching while the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was sitting. When he saw me, he looked into my eyes until I sat down beside him. When I sat down, he said: "By Allah, Amr ibn Shas, you have indeed hurt me." I said: "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. I seek refuge in Allah and in Islam from offending the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." He said: "Whoever has wronged Ali has wronged me." Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Fadl al-Qattan informed us, saying: Abdullah ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Ya'qub ibn Sufyan narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Amr and Abu Ja'far narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Mughra narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Aban ibn Salih, from al-Fadl ibn Ma'qal ibn Sinan, from Abdullah ibn Bayan or Niyar, from his maternal uncle Amr ibn Shas, and he mentioned a meaning similar to that, more elaborate.

3959 - 'Amr ibn Sha's: .... And he narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny): Abu Yasir ibn Abi Habbah informed us, with his chain of narration from Abdullah ibn Ahmad, who said: My father narrated to me, who said: Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to me, from my father, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Aban ibn Salih, from al-Fadl ibn Muqil ibn Sinan, from Abdullah ibn Niyar al-Aslami, from 'Amr ibn Sha's al-Aslami, who was one of the companions of Hudaybiyyah. He said: I went out with Ali to Yemen, and he was distant with me during that journey, to the point that I felt there was something against him in my heart. When I returned, I began to show my complaints about him in the mosque, and this reached the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). I entered the mosque one morning, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was in the company of some of his companions. When he saw me, he fixed his gaze on me, saying, "Sharpen your vision!" Until I sat down, then he said, 'O 'Amr, by Allah, you have indeed troubled me.' I said, 'I seek refuge in Allah from being a cause of trouble to you, O Messenger of Allah!' He replied, 'Indeed, yes. Whoever troubles Ali, troubles me.'" The three (i.e., al-Bukhari, Muslim, and Ibn Majah) narrated this.
