Volume: (4) - Page Number: (193)
2458 - Suham ibn Husayn al-Asadi: Yusuf ibn Rashid narrated to me, saying: Ali ibn Qadim al-Khuza'i narrated to me, from Israel, from Abdullah ibn Sharik, from Suham ibn Husayn al-Asadi: "Abdullah ibn Alqamah and I came to Mecca." Ibn Sharik said, "Alqamah was someone who would insult Ali, and I said, 'Do you have any interest in this one?' meaning Abu Sa'id al-Khudri. I then asked, 'Have you heard of any virtue of Ali?' He answered, 'Yes.' So, if I tell you, ask the muhajirun, the ansar, and the Quraysh." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood on the day of Ghadir Khumm and delivered a message, saying: "Am I not more deserving of the believers than their own selves?" He then said, "Bring Ali," and he came forward. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) raised his hand, and Ali raised his hand, until I saw the whiteness of their armpits." He then said: "Whoever I am his مولا (master, protector), Ali is his مولا." My ears heard this." Ibn Sharik continued: "Then Abdullah ibn Alqamah and Suham arrived, and when we prayed Fajr, Ibn Alqamah stood up and said: 'I repent to Allah for insulting Ali.'" Abu Abdullah said: "Suham is unknown, and it is not known."

Hadith No: 4

Sahl b. Sa`d reported that a person from the offspring of Marwan was appointed as the governor of Medina. He called Sahl b. Sa`d and ordered him to abuse `Ali. Sahl refused to do that. He (the governor) said to him:

If you do not agree to it (at least) say: May Allah curse Abu Turab. Sahl said: There was no name dearer to `Ali than Abu Turab (for it was given to him by the Prophet himself) and he felt delighted when he was called by this name. He (the governor) said to him: Narrate to us the story of his being named as Abu Turab. He said: Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) came to the house of Fatima and he did not find `Ali in the house; whereupon he said: Where is your uncle's son? She said: (There cropped up something) between me and him which had annoyed him with me. He went out and did not rest here. Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) asked a person to find out where he was. He came and said: Allah's Messenger, he is sleeping in the mosque. Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) came to him and found him lying in the mosque and saw that his mantle had slipped from his back and his back was covered with dust and Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) began to wipe it away from him (from the body of Hadrat `Ali) saying: Get up, covered with dust (Abu Turab); get up, covered with dust.
