1632 - Yahiya ibn Saeed narrated to us, from Sadaqah ibn al-Muthanna, who said: My grandfather, Riyah ibn al-Harith, informed me that Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba was in the grand mosque, and the people of Kufa were gathered around him, to his right and to his left. Then a man named Saeed ibn Zaid approached him and Al-Mughira greeted him and seated him at his feet on the bed. A man from the people of Kufa came and confronted Al-Mughira,
and began to curse and insult him, saying: Who is this that you are cursing, Al-Mughira? He replied: He is cursing Ali ibn Abi Talib. The man said: O Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, O Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, three times! Do I not see the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) being cursed in your presence, and you do not refute it or show any change? I testify before the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) to what my ears have heard and my heart has comprehended from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), for I was not one to narrate lies about him. If asked about it when I meet him, I will say that he said: Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Talha is in Paradise, Zubair is in Paradise, Abdul Rahman is in Paradise, Saad ibn Malik is in Paradise, and the ninth of the believers is in Paradise. If I wished to name him, I could. He said: Then the people of the mosque erupted, imploring him, "O servant of the Messenger of Allah, who is the ninth?" He replied: "You are asking me by Allah, and by Allah the Almighty, I am the ninth of the believers, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is the tenth." Then he followed this with an oath, saying: "By Allah, the sight of a man with dust on his face, witnessing with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), is better than the deeds of any of you, even if Umar were to live the lifespan of Noah (peace be upon him)."
