Book of Virtues - Chapter on the Merits of Ali (ra)
Volume: (16) - Page Number: (132)
3939 - Abu Bakr said: narrated to us: Ja'far ibn Aun from Shu'ayq ibn Abdullah narrated to us: Abu Bakr ibn Khalid ibn Arfatah said: I went to Sa'd ibn Malik in Medina, and he said: It was mentioned to me that you insult Ali. He said: We did. He then said: Perhaps you have insulted him yourself. I replied: Far from it, by Allah! He said: Do not insult him, for if a saw were placed on my head with the condition that I insult Ali, I would never insult him again after what I heard from رسول الله (ص) what I heard.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani - Al-Matalib al-Aliyah bi Zawa'id al-Masanid al-Thamaniyah - Book of Conquests
Chapter on the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) curse on al-Hakam ibn Abi al-As and his sons and the sons of Umayyah
Volume: (18) - Page Number: (267)
4457 - Ishaq said: I am Isma'il ibn Ibrahim, from Ibn 'Uuwan, from 'Umayr ibn Ishaq, who said: Marwan was an emir over us for several years, and he used to curse Ali every Friday from the pulpit. Then Marwan was removed, and Sa'id ibn al-As was appointed for several years, and he did not curse him. Then Sa'id was dismissed, and Marwan was reinstated, and he would curse him again. It was said to al-Hasan ibn Ali: "Do you not hear what Marwan is saying? Are you not going to respond?" He would come to the mosque on Fridays, enter the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) chamber, and stay there. When the sermon was over, he would come out to the mosque, pray there, and then return to his family. Marwan was not satisfied with this until he hosted him at his home. While we were sitting with him, someone said: "So-and-so is at the door." Marwan said: "Let him in," and he entered. He said: "I have come to you from the Sultan and with a message." Marwan replied: "Speak." He said: "Marwan sent for Ali, and for Ali, and for you, and for you, and I found nothing like you except a she- donkey, who, when asked, 'Who is your father?' replies, 'My mother is the mare.'" Marwan said: "Return to him and tell him: By Allah, I will not erase anything from what you said, that I am cursing you, but my appointment and yours is with Allah. If you are truthful, Allah will reward you for your truthfulness, and if you are lying, Allah is more severe in vengeance. Allah, the Exalted, has honored my grandfather by not allowing him to be like a she-donkey." Then he left and met al-Husayn in the chamber. Al-Husayn asked him what had happened, and he said: "I have delivered a message and have conveyed it." Al-Husayn replied: "By Allah, you will tell me what it is, or I will command that you be struck until you do not know when the beating will end." When al-Hasan saw him, he said: "Let him go." Al-Husayn said: "I cannot." Al-Hasan asked: "Why not?" He replied: "I have sworn." Al-Hasan said: "Marwan sent for Ali, and for Ali, and for you, and for you, and I found nothing like you except a she-donkey, who, when asked, 'Who is your father?' replies, 'My mother is the mare.'" Al-Husayn responded: "May your mother have eaten your nipple if you do not convey to him what I say! Tell him: You, your father, your people, and the sign between me and you is that you hold your shoulders from the curse of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)."

- .... And al-Tirmidhi narrated with a strong chain from 'Amir ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, from his father, who said: Muawiyah ordered Sa'd and said to him: "What prevents you from cursing Abu Turab?" Sa'd replied: "I cannot mention three things that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said..." Because if you were to have one of them, it would be dearer to me than having red camels. So, I will not curse him. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, having disagreed with him in some expeditions, that when Ali said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, will you leave me with women and children?" he replied, "Is it not enough for you to be in relation to me as Aaron was to Moses, except that there is no prophet after me?" And I heard him say on the day of Khaybar: "I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger and is loved by Allah and His Messenger." So, we began to stretch our necks for it, and he said, "Call me Ali." And Ali came to him with a sore eye, and he spat in his eyes and gave him the banner, and Allah opened (the victory) for him.

601 - Yazid ibn Umayya, Abu Sinan al-Du'li al-Madani, the father of Sinan, who is said to have been named Rabia. He narrated from Ali, Ibn Abbas, and Abu Waqid al-Laythi, and Zayd ibn Aslam, Nafi, and al-Zuhri narrated from him. Abu Zur'ah said: "He is trustworthy." Abu Hatim said: "He was born during the time of Uhud." Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy and stated that Hisham ibn Isma'il wanted him to curse Ali, but he refused. He has a hadith in the Sunan narrated from Ibn Abbas on Hajj. I say that what Ibn Hibban reported was mentioned by al-Bukhari in his Tarikh al-Kabir with a chain of narration, and he mentioned him in the al-Uwsat in a chapter on those who died between eighty and ninety years old. Ibn Abd al-Barr also mentioned him in his book of the names of the companions.

Letter Alif - Those Named Asad - 1206: Asad ibn Wada'a
Volume: (1) - Page Number: (385)
1206 - Asad ibn Wada'a: A Syrian from the minor successors, a Nasibi who insults Ibn Ma'in said: He, along with al-Zuhd al-Harani and a group, used to insult Ali. Al-Nasa'i said: He is trustworthy. That is the end of Ibn Ma'in's statement, narrated by al-Duri from him. Al-Thawr would not insult Ali, and if he did not insult him, they would drag him by his leg. Abu al-Arab transmitted this and said: "Whoever insults the companions after him is neither trustworthy nor safe." Ibn Habban mentioned him among the trustworthy and said: "He narrated from Shaddad ibn Aws, and the people of Sham narrated from him. He was a devout worshipper and was killed in the year 136 or 137." Abu Hatim said: "Mu'awiya ibn Salih, al-Farj ibn Fadalah, and Jabir ibn Ghanim narrated from him."

Chapter on Kunyas - 1232: Abu Ayyub, Mawla of Banu Thalabah
Volume: (2) - Page Number: (411/412)
[The text is lengthy, so only the relevant excerpt is provided here]
1232 - Abu Ayyub, Mawla of Banu Thalabah, from Qutbah ibn Malik. Mas'ar narrated from him, a unknown (majhul) individual, as al-Hasayni said. Ibn Sheikhuna mentioned: "I do not know him." I say, his name was al-Hajjaj ibn Ayyub. Abu Ahmad al-Hakim mentioned him, and al-Mzi asserted this in the biography of Qutbah ibn Malik in al-Tahdhib. Ahmad narrated his hadith in the Musnad of Zayd ibn Arqam from two sources, naming him in one and using a kunya in the other. He said: "Waki' narrated to us, as did Mas'ar, from Abu Ayyub, Mawla of Banu Thalabah from Qutbah ibn Malik, who said: 'A prince from among the rulers spoke ill of Ali, and Zayd ibn Arqam stood up and said: "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) forbade speaking ill of the deceased? Why then do you speak ill of Ali, who is dead?"'....
