Ibn Abi Asim - Kitab al-Sunnah
Chapter on what has been mentioned about the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) that he will turn away some people from his basin after they have approached it
Volume: (2) - Page Number: (360)
776 - Isma'il ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn Khatheem al-Hilali narrated to us from al-Walid ibn Mis'ar al-Hamdani from Ali ibn Abi Talhah, a client of the Banu Umayyah, who said: Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan performed Hajj, and Muawiyah ibn Khudayj performed Hajj with him. He passed by the Mosque of the Messenger (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while Hasan ibn Ali was sitting there. He called him, and Hasan said to him, "You are the one who insults Ali (peace be upon him)." By Allah, you will indeed be made to approach him at the basin, and I do not see you being able to do so. You will find him with his garment rolled up on his shin, driving people away from it, and the hypocrites will not come near it, repelled like a herd of strange camels. These are the words of the truthful, the trustworthy: {And surely, those who conceive evil against Allah will be disappointed} (Surah Ta-Ha 20:61). Abu Bakr said: The reports we have mentioned about the basin of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) necessitate knowledge that its true nature is indeed as described, and we believe in it as our Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) described his basin. We are therefore firm in our belief, without any doubt or denial, and we seek from the One who has granted us success in believing it - and has abandoned the deniers and disbelievers to not acknowledge or affirm it, so that He may deprive them of the joy of drinking from it - to allow us to approach it and give us a drink from it, a sip that will satisfy our thirst for eternity with its length. We ask Him for this out of His grace.

Then Sa'id ibn Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufail stood up and said: "O Muawiya, do I not see that Ali is being cursed in your presence, and you do not act to stop it?" For I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "He is to me as Aaron was to Moses."

1353 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Aun narrated to us, from Shaqiq ibn Abi Abdullah who said: Abu Bakr ibn Khalid ibn Arfata narrated to us, saying: I went to Sa'd ibn Malik in Medina, and he said to me: "Indeed, you are reviling Ali." I said, "We have done so." He replied, "Perhaps you have reviled him." I said, "God forbid." He said, "Then do not revile him, for if a saw were placed on the crown of my head, I would never revile him again after what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny): what I heard."

Volume: (2) - Page Number: (619)
1428 - Thna: Abu Musa narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Har ibn al-Siyah from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Akhnas, that al-Mughira ibn Shu'bah delivered a sermon and spoke ill of Ali. Sa'id ibn Zayd said: "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is in Paradise, and Abu Bakr is in Paradise, and Umar is in Paradise, and Ali is in Paradise, and Uthman is in Paradise, and Abd al-Rahman is in Paradise, and Talhah is in Paradise, and al-Zubayr is in Paradise, and Sa'd is in Paradise.'" Then he said, "If you wish, I can tell you who the tenth is," and he mentioned himself. Abu Bakr narrated to us, saying: Waki' narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from al-Har ibn al-Siyah, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Akhnas, from Sa'id ibn Zayd, from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) similar to this. Khalifah ibn Khayyat narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Asim narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from al-Har ibn al-Siyah, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Akhnas, from Sa'id ibn Zayd, who said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) mention something similar," and added, "and Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah."

1433 - Abu Musa and Abu Bakr ibn Khalad قالوا: narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Sadqa ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, and Riyah ibn al-Harith narrated that Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba was in the larger mosque with the people of Kufa on his right and left. Then a man named Sa'id ibn Zayd came, and Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba greeted him and seated him at his feet on the couch. Then a man from the people of Kufa faced Al-Mughira and insulted him, both cursing and reviling. He said, "O Al-Mughira, who is this insulting?" Al-Mughira replied, "He is insulting Ali." The man said, "O Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, do I not see the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) being insulted in your presence, and you do not denounce or change anything? I bear witness concerning the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) to what my ears heard and my heart comprehended, for I was not one to narrate falsehoods about him. He will ask me if I meet him." He said, "Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Talha is in Paradise, Al-Zubair is in Paradise, Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Auf is in Paradise, Sa'd ibn Malik is in Paradise, and the ninth of the believers is in Paradise. If I wished to name him, I could." Then the people of the mosque rejoiced and urged him, "O companion of the Messenger of Allah, who is the ninth?" He replied, "Do you urge me by Allah? By Allah, it is a great matter that I am the ninth of the believers and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is the tenth." Then he confirmed this with oaths, both right and left, saying, "For the sight of a man who witnessed it with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), his face dust-covered with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), is better than the deeds of any of you, even if Umar lived the lifespan of Noah." Abu Bakr narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to me, Sadqa ibn al-Muthanna narrated to me, and Riyaah ibn al-Harith narrated from Sa'id ibn Zayd from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) similarly, except that he said: A man from the people of Kufa named Qais ibn Alqama stood up and faced Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, cursing and reviling. Abu al-Rabi' narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Khazim narrated to us, Sadqa ibn al-Muthanna al-Nakha'i narrated to us from Riyaah ibn al-Harith from Sa'id ibn Zayd, who said: "I testify that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, 'The position one of them held in the way of Allah, with his face dust-covered, is better than the deeds of any of you for the rest of your lives.'" Then he mentioned something similar to Yahya's narration. Ya'qub ibn Yahya ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Utbah narrated to me from Sadqa ibn al-Muthanna from his grandfather Riyaah from Sa'id ibn Zayd from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in a manner similar to Yahya's narration.
