- Abu Ghalib and Abu Abd Allah ibn al-Bunna narrated to us, saying: Abu Ja'far ibn al-Musallam narrated to us, saying: Abu Tahir al-Mukhless narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Al-Zubayr ibn Bakkar narrated to us, and Ibrahim ibn Hamza narrated to me, from Abi Usamah Hammad ibn Usamah al-Kufi, from Abdullah ibn Aun al-Basri, from Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Zuhri, from Amir ibn Sa'd, who said: "He came upon a group gathered around a man and leaned in with compassion towards a man,
and he saw him insulting Ali and Talha and al-Zubayr. They admonished him, and he raised his head to them and said: 'Are you threatening me, as if you are threatening me?' Then Sa'd turned and entered the house of the family of so-and-so, and called for water, and performed ablution. Then he stood and prayed two units, raised his hands, and said: 'O Allah, if You know that this man has insulted some people against whom You have a prior statement that displeases You, show him today a sign that will be a sign for all people.' Then a wild heifer appeared from the house of the family of so-and-so, unstoppable by anything, until it entered among flocks of people, and the people parted from it while it was between their legs. It continued to chase him until he died. I saw people rushing after Sa'd, saying: 'O Abu Ishaq, Allah has answered your supplication! O Abu Ishaq, Allah has answered your supplication!'"
- Abu al-Qasim Zaher ibn Tahir narrated to us, saying: Abu Sa'd al-Janzurudi narrated to us, saying: Abu Hamed Ahmad ibn Sahl ibn Ibrahim ibn Sahl al-Baghdadi narrated to us, saying: Abu Quraish Muhammad ibn Jum'ah ibn Khalaf narrated to us, saying: Abu Kuraib narrated to us, saying: Abu Usamah narrated to us, and Abu Quraish narrated to us, and Muhammad ibn Humayd al-Razi narrated to us, saying: Ibn Mubarak narrated to us from Ibn Aun, from Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Aswad of Bani Zuhra, from Amir ibn Sa'd, who said: "I went out with my father and saw a group gathered, and my father leaned in with his head among them,
and there was a man insulting Ali and Talha and al-Zubayr. My father said: 'What is wrong with you, woe to you! Are you insulting people who are better than you?' It seemed as if this only sparked his irritation. My father then said: 'You will stop, or I will pray to God against you.' He waved his hand like this, stretching it out as if he were threatening me. Then he went into a house, performed ablution, and entered the mosque, praying two units. He said: 'O Allah, if this is a personality and Yazid, this young drunkard, is known for his foolishness, imposing himself on the community through dominance and oppression, intending to pass it on to his son as if it were part of his private possessions, and Mu'awiya believed that the people of Medina who know Yazid would not accept him, thus the opportunity would be golden to completely eradicate what remains of the believers from him.' It would then strike him with its legs until it kills him."
- And Abu al-Qasim Ismail ibn Ahmad ibn Umar narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Naqur narrated to us, saying: Abu Tahir al-Mukhless narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Nasr ibn Bujayr narrated to us, saying: Hajib narrated to us, saying: Abu Usamah narrated to us from Ibn Aun, from Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Aswad and al-Zuhri, from Amir ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, who said: "I was approaching Sa'd from his land when he passed by people gathered around a man, and Sa'd approached and looked over the heads of two men.
And he saw a man insulting Ali and Talha and al-Zubayr. Sa'd admonished him and bore witness against him, but he did not desist. Sa'd said: 'What do you have to do with insulting people who are better than you?' It seemed as if this only spurred his irritation. Sa'd then said: 'You will stop, or I will pray to God against you.' He began to diminish Sa'd and said: 'It is as if a prophet from the prophets is threatening me.' Then Sa'd turned away from him and went to his home. He was brought water for ablution, and he performed ablution, then entered the mosque and prayed two units. He said: 'O Allah, if this servant has insulted people to whom You have previously shown kindness, and who would be displeased by his insults, show him today a sign that will be a sign for the believers.'" And a wild heifer emerged from the house of the family of so-and-so, unstoppable by anything, until it reached him, and the people parted from it, and it chased him with its legs until it was extinguished. Amir said: "I saw people following Sa'd, saying: 'Allah has responded to you, O Abu Ishaq.'"
