- Ibrahim ibn Ja'far narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Sufi narrated to us, saying: Makhul narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Jabbar ibn al-Abbas narrated to us, from Ammar al-Dahhani, from Abu al-Zubair, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) spoke in private with Ali on the Day of Ta'if and one of the two men said: "His private conversation with his cousin has been long." He replied, "I am not the one he is confiding in, but Allah is confiding in him."

- Al-Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn al-Abbas ibn Ayub narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Sufi narrated to us, saying: Makhlul ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Abdul Jabbar ibn al-Abbas al-Shabami narrated to me, from Ammar al-Duhani, from Abu al-Zubair, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) conversed privately with Ali on the day of Ta'if, and their conversation lasted a long time. Then one of the two men said to the other: "His private conversation with his cousin is indeed prolonged." When this reached the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), he said: "I did not exempt him, but Allah exempted him."

1495 - Ahmad ibn Ya'qub ibn al-Mahragan narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn al-Hasan ibn al-Furat narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abi Hafs al-'Attar narrated to us, from Salim ibn Abi Hafs, from Abi Zubair, from Jabir, who said: On the day of Ta'if, the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood with Ali for a long time during the day, and Abu Bakr said to him: O Messenger of Allah, you have prolonged your conversation with him. He replied: I am not conversing with him, but Allah is choosing him. Al-A'mash, al-Ajlakh, and others narrated something similar from Abi Zubair from Jabir.
