280 - And the trustworthy, just Shaykh, the memorizer of hadith, Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Nasr al-Zaghuni informed us, saying: Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim ibn Makhlad al-Baqaraji narrated to me, saying: Abu Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan ibn al-Ali ibn Bandar narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Shazdan narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Qasim Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Amir al-Ta'i narrated to us, saying: my father Ahmad ibn Amir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha narrated to me, saying: my father Musa ibn Ja'far narrated to me, saying: my father Ja'far ibn Muhammad narrated to me, saying: my father Muhammad ibn Ali narrated to me, saying: my father Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to me, saying: my father al-Husayn ibn Ali narrated to me, saying: my father Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "O Ali, I asked my Lord about you five virtues, and He granted me them. As for the first, I asked my Lord that the earth be split open for me, and that the dust be brushed from my head while you are with me, and He granted me. As for the second, I asked my Lord to stand me next to you at the scale of judgment while you are with me, and He granted me.
As for the third, I asked Allah to make you the bearer of my banner, which is the Banner of Allah the Greatest, under which the successful and victorious in Paradise will stand, and He granted me. As for the fourth, I asked my Lord to allow my Ummah to drink from my basin, and He granted me. And as for the fifth, I asked my Lord to make you the leader of my Ummah to Paradise, and He granted me. So, praise be to Allah who bestowed this upon me."
