- .... And it was narrated
from Salman al-Farsi that he said: "The first of this ummah to arrive at its Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings, at the Pond will be Ali ibn Abi Talib (may peace be upon him and his holy progeny), the first to embrace Islam."- .... This hadith has also been narrated as marfu' (elevated)
from Salman from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) that he said: "The first of this ummah to arrive at the Pond, the first to embrace Islam, will be Ali ibn Abi Talib (may peace be upon him and his holy progeny)," and raising it is more appropriate, for none can attain such a status through mere opinion.- .... Ahmad ibn Qasim narrated to us, saying: Qasim ibn Asbagh narrated to us, saying: Al-Harith ibn Abi Usamah narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Hisham narrated to us, saying: Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Abu Sadiq, from Hunch ibn al-Mu'tamir, from Ali ibn al-Kindi,
from Salman al-Farsi, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: 'The first of you to arrive at the Pond, the first of you to embrace Islam, will be Ali ibn Abi Talib (may peace be upon him and his holy progeny).'" And Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated, saying: Abu Iwanah narrated to us, from Abu Balj, from Amr ibn Maymun.
