The second is that the Banner of Praise (Liwa' al-Hamd) will be in his hand, held by Adam (peace be upon him) and the descendants born from him. The third is that he will stand at the edge of my Pond (Hawth) and water those whom he recognizes from my Ummah. The fourth is that he will cover my nakedness (awrah) and be my submitter (Muslim) to my Lord, the Almighty. And the fifth is that I do not fear for him returning as an adulterer after having been in a state of marital protection, nor as a disbeliever after having had faith."

He said: "I did not do that." Al-Hasan said: "By Allah, if you meet him, I do not think you will meet him on the Day of Resurrection, you will find him standing by the pond of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), driving away the banners of the hypocrites from it with his hand, holding a staff made of osier." 14744 - Abu Kathira narrated that he said: I was sitting with al-Hasan ibn Ali ( سلام الله عليهما ) when a man came to him and said: "A man named Mu'awiya ibn Khadij has been speaking ill of Ali ( سلام الله عليه ) in a horrible manner before Mu'awiya." He did not recognize him. The man replied, "When you see him, bring him to me." So, he saw him near the house of 'Amr ibn Hurayth and showed him to al-Hasan. The man said, "Are you Mu'awiya ibn Khadij?" He fell silent and did not respond for three times, then said, "You are the one who spoke ill of Ali in the presence of the son of the eater of livers. By Allah, if you were to come to him at the Pond, I do not think you will be able to return, you would find him dressed in armor, bare from the elbows, driving away disbelievers and hypocrites from the Pool of the Messenger of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم )," the words of the truthful and trustworthy Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه وآله ). And in a narration from Ali ibn Abi Talha, a client of the Banu Umayya, it was said: Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan performed Hajj, and Mu'awiya ibn Khadij, who was one of the most abusive people towards Ali ibn Abi Talib, performed Hajj with him. He passed through Medina in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ) while al-Hasan ibn Ali ( سلام الله عليهما ) was sitting, and mentioned something similar, but added: { "And futile is the plan of those who do wrong." } (Surah Ta-Ha 20:61) Al-Tabarani reported it with two chains, one of which included Ali ibn Abi Talha, a client of the Banu Umayya, whom I did not recognize, and the rest of its men were trustworthy, and the other was weak.

He passed by al-Madina while al-Hasan ibn Ali and a group of his companions were sitting. It was said to him: This is Muawiya ibn Hadiyj, who curses Ali. He replied, "Ali is a man." Then a messenger came to him and said: "Answer him." He asked, "Who?" The messenger replied, "Al-Hasan ibn Ali is calling you." So he went to him and greeted him. Al-Hasan said to him: "Are you Muawiya ibn Hadiyj?" He replied, "Yes." Al-Hasan said: "Return that to him." He replied, "So you are the one who curses Ali." It seemed that he was embarrassed. Al-Hasan then said to him: "By Allah, if you were to come to him at the Pond, and I do not see you returning, you would find him with his waistcloth hitched up to his shins, driving away from it the banners of the hypocrites, defending it like a herd of estranged camels," the words of the truthful, the trustworthy: {And he has failed who invents (Taha 20:61)}.

He replied: Fatimah loves me more than you and you are dearer to me than her, and I see you on my Pond, defending it from the people. And there will be vessels by it, like the number of the stars in the sky. And I, you, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, Fatimah, Aqil, and Ja'far will be brothers in Paradise, sitting on thrones facing each other, and you will be with me, and your Shia in Paradise. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) recited: {Brothers on thrones facing each other} (Surah al-Hijr 15:47), with no one looking at the back of another. 384 - Narration Nineteen: I was given five things in Ali that are dearer to me than the world and everything in it: The first is that he will stand as a guardian before Allah, the Almighty, until He completes the الحساب (accounting) of the creatures. The second is the Banner of Praise in his hand, with Adam and his descendants under it. The third is that he will be standing at the very edge of my Pond, giving drink to whomever he recognizes from my Ummah. The fourth is that he will be a cover for my nakedness and my submitter to my Lord. The fifth is that I do not fear for him returning to disbelief after having faith, nor committing adultery after being in a protected state. Ahmad narrated this in his book on virtues.
