Chapter on the Virtues of Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) - Chapter on the Opening of His Door in the Mosque
Volume: (9) - Page Number: (114)
14671 - Narrated from Zaid ibn Arqam, who said: Some men from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had doors opening into the mosque. One day, he said: "Close these doors except for the door of Ali." Then some people spoke about this. So, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up, praised Allah, and extolled Him, and said: "As for what follows, I was commanded to close these doors, except for the door of Ali." Someone among you is saying something about it, and by Allah, I neither closed anything nor opened it, but I was commanded to do something, and I followed it." Ahmad narrated it, and in it is Maymoon, Abu Abdullah, whom Ibn Hibban regarded as trustworthy, although some weakened him. The rest of its narrators are men of sound authenticity.

14672 - And Abdullah ibn al-Ruqaym al-Kunani said: We went out to Medina during the time of the Battle of the Camel and met Sa'd ibn Malik there, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) ordered that the doors leading into the mosque be closed, except for the door of Ali. Ahmad, Abu Ya'la, al-Bazzar, and al-Tabarani narrated this in al-Awsat and added: They said, O Messenger of Allah, You have closed all our doors except for the door of Ali. He replied, "I have not closed your doors, but Allah has closed them." And the chain of narration in Ahmad is حسن (hasan/good).

14696 - From Amr ibn Maymun - meaning al-Awdi - who said: I was sitting with Ibn Abbas when nine men approached him and said: "O Ibn Abbas, either you stand with us, or let these people leave us." Ibn Abbas replied: "Rather, I will stand with you," and he was in good health that day, before he became blind.... He said that Abu Bakr closed the doors of the mosque, except for the door of Ali. He said Ali could enter the mosque while in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), and this was his only way, as he had no other route.
