1384 - Al-Hasan ibn Ali narrated to us, saying: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from Fitr, from Abdullah ibn Sharik, from Abdullah ibn al-Arqam, who said: We came to Medina, I and some people from the people of Kufa, and we encountered Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas. He said: "Be Iraqis, be Iraqis." I was one of the closest people to him, so I asked about Ali (may he be pleased with him). He said: "How did you see him? Did you hear him mention me?" We said: "No, not by name." However, we heard him say: "Beware of the trial of al-Akhnas." He said: "Did he name me?" We said: "No." He replied: "Al-Akhnas are many, but I will not stop loving him after three things I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny): that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent Abu Bakr with the declaration of innocence, then sent Ali, who took it from him and Abu Bakr returned, dejected, saying: 'O Messenger of Allah.'" He continued: "And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: 'Only a man from me can convey it on my behalf.'" He added: "And the doors of the people that were adjacent to the mosque were closed, except for Ali's door."
Al-Abbas then said: "O Messenger of Allah, you have closed our doors and left Ali's door open, while he is the youngest of us." The Prophet replied: "I did not close them or seal your doors, but I was commanded to do so."....
