3553 - Yazid ibn Sinan narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn al-Jarrah al-Qahistani narrated to us, saying: Zafer ibn Sinan narrated to us, from Isra'il ibn Yunus, from Abdullah ibn Sharik, from al-Harith ibn Thalabah, who said: I said to Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you witness anything of the merits of Ali (peace be upon him)?" He replied, "I witnessed four merits for him, and the fifth, I would have witnessed, for it to be the last of them would be dearer to me than the world and everything in it:
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) closed the doors of the mosque and left the door of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) open. When asked about this, he said, 'I did not close it, nor did I leave it open,'" and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) married him to Fatimah (peace be upon her), and she bore him children, and he gave him the banner on the Day of Khaybar.
