- Abu al-Ahz narrated to us, Quratakin ibn al-As'ad, that Abu Muhammad al-Jawahiri narrated to him that Abu al-Qasim Abdulaziz ibn Jaafar ibn Muhammad ibn Hamdi al-Khurqi said: Umar ibn Ayub al-Saqti narrated to us, Ubaydullah ibn Umar al-Qawariqi narrated to us, Yunus ibn Arqam narrated to us, Kathiir al-Nuwa Abu Ishaq and Awf al-A'rabi narrated to us from Maymun al-Kurdi, who said: We were with Ibn Abbas, and a man said: "I wish he would narrate to us about Ali." Ibn Abbas heard him and said: "I will surely inform you with the truth
that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) commanded that the doors opening into the mosque be closed, and the door of Ali was left open." He continued: "They found this troubling, so he sent for them, saying, 'It has come to my attention that you are troubled by the closing of your doors and my leaving the door of Ali, and by Allah, I did not close anything of my own accord, nor did I leave anything of my own accord. I am nothing but a commanded servant. I was commanded to do something, and I did it. I can only follow what is revealed to me.'"
- Abu al-Qasim Hibatullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Abu Ali ibn al-Mazhab narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Jaafar narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated to me that my father said: Muhammad ibn Jaafar narrated to us, Awf narrated to us from Maymun Abu Abdullah, from Zayd ibn Arqam, who said: "A group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had doors opening into the mosque. One day, he said: 'Close these doors except for the door of Ali.'" Some people spoke about this, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up, praised Allah, and extolled Him, then said:
"Indeed, I was commanded to close these doors, except for the door of Ali." He said, "And I, by Allah, did not close or open anything, but I was commanded to do something, and I followed it."
- Abu Sahl Muhammad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Fadl al-Razi narrated to us, Ja'far ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Harun narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Hudhayfah ibn Khalifah Abu al-Ashhab narrated to us, Awf narrated to us from Maymun, from al-Bara ibn Azib, who said: "A group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had doors opening into the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said one day: 'Close these doors except for the door of Ali ibn Abi Talib.'" Some people spoke about this, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up, praised Allah, and extolled Him, then said: "I was commanded to close the doors except for the door of Ali ibn Abi Talib." He continued, "And I, by Allah, did not open or close anything, but I was commanded to do something, and I followed it."
- Abu Bakr Wajih ibn Tahir narrated to us that Abu Hamid Ahmad ibn al-Hasan al-Azhari narrated to him that Abu Muhammad al-Mukhallidi said: Al-Mu'tamir ibn al-Hasan ibn Isa narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-Nufayli narrated to us, Miskin ibn Bakir narrated to us, Sa'bah narrated to us from Abu Balj from Amr ibn Maymun
from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) commanded that all the doors be closed except for the door of Ali.
