338 - And with this chain, Ahmad ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, this same one, saying: Abu Abd Allah al-Hafiz narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ja'far narrated to us in Baghdad, saying: Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: my father narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, saying: Awn narrated to us, from Maymun, from Abu Abd Allah from Zayd ibn Arqam, who said: There were a few men among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) with doors opening into the mosque, and one day he said: "Close these doors except for Ali's door." He said that the people spoke about this, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up and praised Allah and extolled Him. Then he said: "As for what follows, I was commanded to close these doors except for Ali's door." Then he who speaks among you said, 'By Allah, I did not close anything or open anything, but I was commanded to do something and I followed it.'"
