703 - Musa narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Ja'far al-Tahhan narrated to us, who said: Ghassan ibn Bashar al-Kahhali narrated to us, from Muslim, from Khaithama from Sa'd: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) closed the doors of the people in the mosque and opened the door of Ali. So the people spoke about that, and he said: "I did not open it, but Allah opened it."

2603 - Narrated to us by Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah, who said: Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Walid al-Fahham narrated to us, saying: Abu Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Hisham ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Amr ibn Asid, who said: I heard Ibn Umar say: We used to be told during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) that the best of people after the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) were Abu Bakr and Umar, and indeed, Ali was given three things that it was more beloved to me to have one of them than red camels: his marriage to Fatimah, who bore children by him, his being given the banner on the Day of Khaybar, and Umar blocking all the doors of the mosque except for Ali's.

And indeed, Ali ibn Abi Talib was given three traits that I would have loved to be given even more than red camels: he was married to the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), he was given the banner on the Day of Khaybar, and the doors to the mosque were closed except for Ali's door.

- .... Mu'tamir from Awf: I heard Maymun Abu Abdullah say: Zayd ibn Arqam narrated to us that there were a few men from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) who had doors opening into the mosque and that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said one day: "Close these doors except for the Door of Ali." Some people spoke about this, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up, praised Allah, and extolled Him, saying: "As for what follows, I was commanded to close these doors except for the Door of Ali, and there shall be a speaker among you regarding it. I swear by Allah, I did not open anything nor close it, but I was commanded to do something, and I followed it."

- Abu al-Hasan Ahmad ibn al-Mu'tafirr ibn Ahmad al-'Attar, the Shafi'i jurist, narrated to us, saying: Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Uthman al-Muzani, nicknamed Ibn al-Saqa'i, al-Hafiz, informed us. Ali ibn al-Abbas al-Bajjali narrated to us in Kufa, saying: Hussain ibn Nasr ibn Muzahim narrated to us, saying: Khalid al-Akli narrated to us, saying: Huseyn ibn Makharq narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from his father, from Nafid, the freedman of Ibn Umar, who said: I said to Ibn Umar, "Who is the best of people after the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)?" He said: "What is it to you and that? Your mother would not be pleased with you." Then he said: "I seek forgiveness from Allah. The best of them after him is whoever was permitted to do what he was permitted to do, and was forbidden from what he was forbidden to do." I asked, "Who is he?" He said: "It is Ali. He blocked the doors of the mosque and left the door of Ali open," and he said to him: "You have in this mosque what I have and upon you is what I have, and you are my heir and my trustee. You will settle my debts, fulfill my promises, and be killed following my Sunnah. It is a lie from one who claims to hate you and love me."
