- .... And Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, Sahl ibn Sa'd, Abu Huraira, Buraydah al-Aslami, Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, Abdullah ibn Umar, Imran ibn al-Husayn, and Salamah ibn al-Akwa' all narrated similarly
from the Prophet (pbuh) that he said on the day of Khaybar: "Tomorrow, I will give the flag to a man who loves God and His Messenger, and whom God and His Messenger love. He is not a coward; God will grant victory through him." Then he called for Ali, who had sore eyes, and he (the Prophet) spat in his eyes and gave him the flag, and God granted victory through him. All of these are established narrations.
