Chapter on Clarifying the Difficulties of What was Narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) regarding his words to the Qurayshites who had come from Mecca...
Volume: (10) - Page Number: (231)
4053 - Fahd ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn al-Isbahani narrated to us, saying: Sharik ibn Abdullah al-Nakha'i narrated to us, from Mansur ibn al-Mu'tamir, from Rub'ay ibn Hiraash, from Ali (peace be upon him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say when he opened Mecca and people from Quraysh came to him and said: "O Muhammad, we are your allies and your people, and our sons and servants have joined you, not out of a desire for Islam, but because they have fled from the burden of work. So send them back to us." He consulted Abu Bakr (peace be upon him) about their matter, and he said: "They speak the truth, O Messenger of Allah." His face changed, and he said: "O Umar, what do you think?" Umar replied like Abu Bakr's words. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "O people of Quraysh, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will surely send you a man from among you, whom Allah, the Exalted, has tested with faith in his heart, and he will strike your necks for the sake of religion." Abu Bakr said: "Am I that man, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "No." Umar said: "Am I that man, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "No, but he is the one repairing sandals in the mosque." It was noted that he had thrown his sandal to Ali (peace be upon him) to repair. Ali (peace be upon him) also said: "Indeed, I heard him say, 'Do not lie about me, for whoever lies about me will enter the Fire.'"

Kitāb al-Ziyādāt - Chapter on Reciting Poetry in Mosques
Volume: (4) - Page Number: (359)
7318 - Fahd said: Al-Ḥasan narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Sa'īd al-Ṣufī, who said: Sharīk narrated to us, from Manṣūr, from Rab'ī ibn Ḥarāsh from Alī (may peace be upon him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "O assembly of Quraysh, Allah will surely send upon you a man whom He has tested with faith, who will strike the necks of you in the name of religion." Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Am I he, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "No." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Am I he, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "No, but it is the one who is patching sandals in the mosque." He was indeed tossing his sandal to Ali (may peace be upon him) to repair. Do you not see that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) did not prohibit Ali (may peace be upon him) from patching sandals in the mosque, and that if people were to gather until they filled the mosque with patching sandals, it would be considered undesirable? Therefore, what is not enough to fill the mosque with this is not undesirable, while what could fill it or dominate it is undesirable. This applies to selling, reciting poetry, and gathering for it before prayer; what encompasses this is undesirable, and what does not is not undesirable. Allah knows best what is correct.
