11408 - Ya'qub narrated to us, who said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Abdullah ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Maimun ibn Hazm narrated to me, from Sulayman ibn Muhammad ibn Kab ibn Ujrah, from his aunt Zaynab bint Kab, who was married to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri who said: "The people complained about Ali. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood among us, delivering a sermon, and I heard him say: 'O people, do not complain about Ali. For by Allah, he is indeed harsher in defending the truth of Allah or in the path of Allah.'"

1161 - Yaqoub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us from Abu Ishaq, who said: Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Muawiya narrated to me, and he was Abu Talawah al-Ansari, from Sulayman ibn Muhammad ibn Kab ibn Ujrah, from Zaynab and the son of Abu Sa'id from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: "Ali, meaning Ibn Abi Talib, complained about the people to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He stood among us delivering a sermon, and I heard him say: 'O people, do not complain about Ali.' By Allah, he is indeed my brother in defending Allah and in the path of Allah."

4710 - Ahmad ibn Jaafar al-Quti'i narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to me, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from my father, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Ma'mar, Abu Tawalah al-Ansari, narrated to me from Sulayman ibn Muhammad ibn Kab ibn Ujrah, from Zainab, daughter of Abu Sa'id, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (ra), who said: "Ali ibn Abi Talib complained about the people to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). So he stood among us giving a sermon, and I heard him say: 'O people, do not complain about Ali. By Allah, he is indeed the sternest in matters related to Allah and in the path of Allah.'" This is a hadith with a sound chain of narration, and they did not include it in their compilations.

This was narrated by Ahmad.

From Ibn Ishaq: Abdullah ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Mu'mar ibn Hazm narrated to me from Sulaiman ibn Muhammad ibn Kab ibn Ujra from his aunt Zainab bint Kab - who was married to Abu al-Khudri - from Abu Sa'id who said: "The people complained about Ali, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up among us delivering a sermon, and I heard him say: 'O people, do not complain about Ali, for by Allah, he is more severe in defending the truth of Allah or in the cause of Allah than to be complained about.'" This was also reported by Imam Ahmad from the narration of Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: "more severe in defending the truth of Allah or in the cause of Allah."
