4659 - As for what has been mentioned regarding Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas's withdrawal from fighting, Abu Zakariya Yahya ibn Muhammad al-Anbari narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Abi Talib narrated to us, Ali ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us, Ibn Fadhil narrated to us, and Muslim al-Malayi narrated to us, from Khaythama ibn Abd al-Rahman, who said: I heard Sa'd ibn Malik, and a man said to him: "Ali speaks ill of you, claiming that you have disassociated yourself from him." Sa'd replied: "By Allah, this is indeed an opinion I held, and it was a mistake. Ali ibn Abi Talib was given three things for which I would have preferred to be given one of them over the world and everything in it." He continued: "On the day of Ghadir Khumm, after praising Allah and thanking Him, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: 'Do you know that I am more worthy of the believers?' We replied: 'Yes.' He said: 'O Allah, to whomsoever I am a Mawla, Ali is his Mawla. Befriend those who befriend him and oppose those who oppose him.'" He was brought to him on the day of Khaybar, while he had sore eyes and could not see. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have sore eyes." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) then spat in his eyes and prayed for him, and he was no longer sore until he was killed. Khaybar was opened to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) expelled his uncle Abbas and others from the mosque. Abbas said to him: "You are expelling us while we are your close-knit group and your relatives, and you are settling Ali?" He replied: "I am not the one who is expelling you and settling him, but Allah is the one who has expelled you and settled him."

14678 - Muhammad ibn Ali narrated from Ibrahim ibn Sa'd from his father and from Muhammad ibn Ali, who narrated it as an unbroken chain, saying: There were some people with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) when Ali came. When Ali entered, they left, and after they left, they began to blame each other. Some said to one another: "By Allah, it was not us who made us leave, so let us go back." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) then said: "By Allah, I did not cause him to enter and you to leave, but Allah caused him to enter and you to leave." Al-Bazzar narrated this, and its narrators are trustworthy.

He said: 'I did not expel you from before myself, nor did I leave him, but Allah expelled you and left him. 8096 - I read to Muhammad ibn Sulayman, from Ibn Uyaynah, from Amr ibn Dinar, from Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali, from Ibrahim ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, from his father, who did not once mention his father, who said: We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and there were some people sitting with him when Ali entered. When he entered, they left. When they had left, they blamed one another and said: "By Allah, what drove us out and brought him in?" So they returned and reentered. He then said: "By Allah, I did not bring him in and drive you out, but Allah brought him in and drove you out."

When he entered, they left. When they had left, they began to blame each other, saying: 'By God, it was not us who were dismissed and then he admitted him.'" So they returned and went back in. 1195 - Did you hear Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn al-Junayd say: Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Asdi said: Sufyan, meaning Ibn Uyayna, narrated to us from Amr ibn Dinar from Muhammad ibn Ali from Ibrahim ibn Sa'd from his father. Thus did Muhammad ibn Sulayman narrate it from Sufyan from Amr from Muhammad ibn Ali from Ibrahim ibn Sa'd from his father, and others besides Muhammad ibn Sulayman only narrated it from Sufyan from Amr from Muhammad ibn Ali as an unconnected narration. He said: There were people with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) when Ali came, and when Ali entered, they left. When they left, they began to blame each other, and some said to one another: "By Allah, nothing caused us to leave." So, let us return. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "By Allah, I did not bring him in and send you out, but Allah brought him in and sent you out."

- Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad al-Maliki and al-Qasim ibn Abbad narrated to us in Basra, saying: Luwayn narrated to us, who said: Ibn Uyaynah narrated to us from Abu Ja'far, from Ibrahim ibn Sa'd, from his father, who said: I was with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and there were people with him when Ali (peace be upon him) entered. As soon as he entered, the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Make yourselves scarce." When they left, they began to blame each other, and some said to one another: "By Allah, it was not us who made you leave, so go back." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "By Allah, I did not bring him in and send you out, but Allah, the Almighty, brought him in and sent you out." Luwayn narrated to us that Ibn Uyaynah mentioned this again from Ibrahim ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, without going beyond this. Abu Bakr al-Bazzar narrated this hadith to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Junayd narrated to us, and Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Asdi narrated to us. Al-Bazzar said: This is how Muhammad ibn Sulayman narrates it, unlike Muhammad ibn Sulayman. He only narrates it from Sufyan ibn Uyaynah, from Amr, from Muhammad ibn Ali, who is Abu Ja'far, returning to what Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Maswahi narrated to us.
