- Abu Nasr ibn Ridwan, Abu Ghalib ibn al-Banna, and Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Najja narrated to us, saying: Abu Muhammad al-Jawhari narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr al-Qutii narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Ahmad, who said: My father narrated to me, from Abu Sa'id, a client of the Banu Hashim, from Abdullah ibn Ja'far, who said: Umm Bakr, the daughter of Maswar ibn Makhramah, narrated to us from Ubaydullah ibn Abi Rafi, from Maswar, that Hasan ibn Hasan sent to him to propose marriage for one of his daughters. Maswar replied, "Tell him to meet me in the evening." So he met him, and Maswar praised and thanked Allah the Almighty, saying: "As for what follows, by Allah, there is no lineage, bond, or in-law more beloved to me than your lineage and in-laws.
However, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, 'Fatimah is a part of me. What harms her, harms me; what brings her joy, brings me joy. And indeed, lineages will be cut off on the Day of Resurrection, except for my lineage and my wrath, and your daughter is with you. If I were to marry you, I would withdraw," and he went on, excusing him.
