Aslam al-Adawi, their freedman, Abu Khalid, also called Abu Zayd. It was said that he was Abyssinian, and others said he was from the captivity of Ayn al-Tamr.
He lived to see the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and narrated from Abu Bakr, his master Umar, Uthman, Ibn Umar, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Abu Ubaid, Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), and others.
- .... His son Zayd and al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, and Nafie, the freedman of Ibn Umar, narrated from him, and Ibn Ishaq said:
Abu Bakr sent Umar in the year (11) to establish the Hajj for the people, and in it, Aslam, his freedman, bought goods.- .... And al-'Ajlabi said:
He was a trustworthy Medinese, one of the كبار التابعين (senior Tabi'un).- .... Abu Zur'ah said:
He was trustworthy, and Abu Ubaid stated he died in the year (80), while others said he was 114 years old.
- .... Ya'qub ibn Shaybah said:
He was trustworthy, and he was one of the leading freedmen of Umar.
