Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (ra) - Those Who Delayed in Pledging Allegiance to Abu Bakr

- .... Those who delayed in pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr were Ali, al-Abbas, al-Zubair, and Sa'd ibn Ubada. As for Ali, al-Abbas, and al-Zubair, they sat in Fatima's (sa) house when Abu Bakr sent Umar ibn al-Khattab to bring them out of Fatima's (sa) house. He said to him: "If they refuse, fight them."
So he came with a torch of fire, intending to set their house ablaze, but Fatima (sa) met him and said: "O son of Khattab, have you come to burn down our house?" He replied: "Yes, unless you enter what the community has entered."
