- .... Muhammad ibn Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ayub narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Amr al-Bazzaz narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Nasir narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Umar narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, that Ali and al-Zubair were, when allegiance was pledged to Abu Bakr, entering upon Fatimah and consulting her, and discussing their matters. When Umar learned of this, he entered upon her and said: O daughter of the Messenger of Allah, there was no one in creation more beloved to us than your father, and there is no one more beloved to us after him than you.
And it has reached me that these men are entering upon you, and if it reaches me again, I will certainly take action and I will surely do so. Then he left and they came to her, and she said to them: Umar has come to me and sworn that if you return, he will take action, and by God, he will follow through on his oath. So consider your situation and do not return to me.
